Super Off Road Xbox
Video Game "Madigascar" creates unrealistic perceptions of reality?
My 3 year old son loves playing the xbox game madigascar. My wife and I thought some play would be good for thinking, spatial development, eye/hand coordination, etc. This is a fairly benign game, however, the animals can do "super jumps" off cliffs, etc. My son, the other day mentioned doing a super jump off our second floor landing, and I told him that that is way too high, and he would get very hurt. He responded that he could get so hurt that we would never see him again. We tell him that when we explain about not running into roads, etc. Is there any evidence that these games can alter a toddlers perception or reality, or provide false expectations of his ability/performance. He is a very intelligent boy.
Considering the Activision site that puts it out rates it as:
"E-Everyone 10+", I wouldn't let a 3-year-old near it... and I think you see why.
He may be smart, but he's still 3. Find something more age appropriate. Dora games/Pooh games - things made for kids his age. If you feel those are still not good enough, get games geared for 5-year-olds that are educational.

A Gamerâs World
Since the fantastic days of the 8-bit Nintendo EntertainmentSystem video games have endowed people of all ages and ethnicities with hours of unmatched relaxation. The universe of games, or ‘wasting time’, as some may argue, has evolved rapidly and continues to progress onward. The big assortment of gaming consoles provided by electronic manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers give gamers many ways to flee the tension brought on by lessons, workload or common life in general. Despite their connotation as being unproductive and outright addictive, video games grant our heads a well-merited reprieve from the tortures of the day and haveplaited themselves into the very framework of our culture. But what exactly makes them so good? The violence? The strategy? The thrill of‘leveling up’? As is the case with music and cuisine, different games appeal to different people. And recent days, the options existing to gamers are greater and more assorted than ever before.
chartbuster platformers such as Super Mario, Kirby and Sonic the Hedgehog have provoked many an adrenaline rush and left lots of game controllers with sweaty and kaput buttons. Such action-oriented adventures exam not only a person’s timing and reflexes, but his or her endurance too. fixed series such as The Legend of Zelda and the abovementioned Mario are commonly among the first to penetrate the slots of the freshest systems and cycle relentlessly through the storage of manufacturers, electronic wholesalers and retailers. And while breakthroughs in graphics and video quality have stripped some series of their legendary ‘retro’appeal, they haveunquestionably enhanced their enjoyableness, or, as fervent gamers would think, their ‘sickness’.
Today, role-playing games possiblely boast the most expansive and most mixed following of any kind. ‘Leveling up’ and getting new abilities are the calling cards of such time-consuming names as Final Fantasy and Nintendo’s most priceless player, Pokemon. The major reason for the success of these games is the truth that there is ‘always something to do’, even after the player finishes the chief storyline. As such, the game can neveraccurately be ‘beat’. Many games of this kind, such as the addicting World of Worldcraft, allow players to converse, scuffle and interact with one another on internet, empowering even the moststubborn introverts to see each other and chat with individuals from all over the planet.
Much like the video games that run on them, gaming platforms themselves also come in many sizes, and likewise cater to varied kinds of humans. While platforms such as Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Sony’s PlayStation 3 provide a valuable gaming feeling at home, a lot of people, chiefly young gamers, desire the simplicity and portability of handheld systems such as the PlayStation Portable, Nintendo DS, and even Apple’s iPhone and iPod. These pockets offun areprecious in healing the boredom of a cross-country road trip or airplane journey from New York to Tokyo. Laptops, especially smaller varieties like the new netbooks offer a slightly bulkier, but stillmanageablekey to tedious travel. The medal for ‘most unique gaming system’ irrefutably goes to the Nintendo Wii. ground-breaking motion-sensing technology adds another sideelement of real world and makes Nintendo’s newest system a multi-purpose gadget. Many names such as DanceDanceRevolution and Wii Fit allowplayers to not only have joy, but get a uplifting workout as well. The sheer popularity of the platform triggered a paucity of Wiis in the wholesale electronics industry—a rarity thatheated gamers’ bloods even more than aunreasonably difficult boss.
As a partion of comtemporary way of life, video games have provided and continue to provide gamers an break from the stress of life. Theselection of games and consoles in the inventories of manufacturers, electronic wholesalers and retailers ensure that nobody is left without an funny game to indulge in. amazing features such like online connectivity, voice recognition, motion sensory and touch screens have redefined the world of gaming since the lazy days of 8-bits and two dimensions. We can only guess what developments the future will bring
