battlefield 2 modern combat?

Is battlefield 2: modern combat for original xbox any good in single player? if not how do i go about getting xbox live? step by step please.

I have no money for that whole xbox live thing or a 360 itself, but I liked the single player mode. There are problems obviously (all games have their downsides), like the AI seems to be invincible at the last level because they cut you down like a hot knife through butter. I still can't beat the very last level... Worth it? Yes. Worth it for live? Don't know if people still play it on live to be honest..
