Microphone for xbox 360 in Guitar Hero World Tour?

Hi, i have an x box 360 and just today i have bought the new guitar hero world tour. I received a drum kit, guitar, microphone and the game. It all works fine but the microphone i don't know how to get it singing in just vocals. it tells me to connect a mic or an x box 360 headset. Plz hellp me im stuck.

And yes i am just playing single player
Could some one please help me
Ive put the mic in the usb and nothing is happening

You have to connect the microphone through the usb and then connect one of your controllers as well, it automatically connects to the port that you have connected the mic too
