What is the best video game system out there for kids between the ages of 8 and 12?

I'm looking to get my kids a video game system for Christmas but I am clueless as to which is the best one. They don't have any right now but I thought it was time to let them have one. Please help Xbox, playstation, Wii???

Definitely the Wii. The PS3 and Xbox 360 are meant more for older teenagers and adults (as you can see by the titles available for those systems). The Wii has a lot of kid friendly titles that are actually decent, playable games, like Boom Blox and Super Mario Galaxy. I can think of only one major title for the 360 or the PS3 that is kid friendly: Little Big Planet. Otherwise, the majority of games are shooters or complicated RPGs. While there are a fair share of bad quality games aimed at children on the Wii, there is some playable stuff like I mentioned before.
