It’s Fun Watching Your Bowling Game Improve
Are you unhappy with your bowling scores lately? Have you noticed other members of your team or lane constantly improving, while your scores stay the same or drop. It's likely just a few things your doing wrong that can be corrected. They may be some very basic technique changes that can make all the difference.
If your still using rental balls, that's the first thing you should change if you want your scores to improve. Throwing different balls every time you play, is sure to affect your consistency. Getting a ball that fits you perfectly will make a world of difference.
Good footwork is important to throwing a good bowling ball. And, good shoes, will help with that footwork. For the same reason as owning your own bowling ball, using your own shoes provides you with another element of consistency in your bowling game.
When you go bowling, decide if your going for fun, or to work on your game. There are all kinds of people and other visual distractions available at the modern bowling alley. Try to to let them distract you from concentrating on your game.
One of the things about bowling, is that it's not always easy to know if your doing things right. If your unsure about your stance, ask another bowler whose opinion you respect to watch your stance and make suggestions.
If you don't use the lane makers, it's time you started. They can be an invaluable guide to positioning your ball. Once you start using them, don't be afraid to experiment a little. Sometimes tweaking your aim a little right or left will make a world of difference.
The ball release is one of the most important aspects of a good bowling game. Releasing too late, or too early can adversely affect your results. The ball should be released in front of your body. Again, if your not sure, ask a better bowler to watch you and make suggestions.
A good follow through is important to throwing a good bowling ball. If you shorten your follow through, ball will start spinning too early, and probably end up in the gutter. You should keep your elbow close to your body, and follow your hand through to about shoulder height.
If your very committed to improving your bowling game, than a coach is the best way to go. There's only so much you can pick up on yourself, or by have your colleagues watch and make suggestions. Check with your local pro bowl shop, or ask around.
Bowling can be fun at whatever level you play. Once you start playing better and racking up higher scores, it gets to be even more fun. It's a great sense of accomplishment, and boost to your confidence to see your bowling average consistently rise.
