Have you ever had a Xbox game that you wanted to play, only to be stopped by lost discs, broken discs or disc read errors? It happens more often than you think, and lots of people wish they had a copy of their games so they wont have to waste time and effort finding a brand new copy that they might lose again.

Some gamers have collected a vast library of games that require hundreds of dollars to replace with brand-new retail copies, depending on if those copies are not rare and hard to find games that are out of production. There is a way to find out how to copy Xbox games, making sure that there are always backups on hand just in case the above problems present themselves.

There are several ways to copy Xbox games. But all of them require a lot of effort and time. The biggest problem is without a doubt the copyright protection. The copyright protection is meant to prevent gamers from making copies of Xbox games by simply burning it onto a CD or DVD.

The copyright protection is the reason why standard disc burning software won't work. This is why gamers need to find a way to bypass the copyright measures. In addition gaming consoles require special discs. The special discs need to be recognized by the Xbox's internal software as being a legitimate original game. This is why special software is required to mimic original Xbox cds.

Another thing you need to do to get copied Xbox games to play properly on your console is modifying your Xbox. However, modifying your console is not that difficult. It is either done by installing a special chip inside the console or by flashing the original BIOS with modified software. The software flash results in the console disregarding the regular copyright protection check. In this way the Xbox system cannot determine if you inserted an original disc or a copied disc.

There is also downloadable software that can be found on the internet, most claiming to create exact copies of Xbox games, along with the ability to burn these games directly on regular CDs and DVDs. Other measures of how to copy Xbox games include directly copying the games on either external hard drives or the hard drives found within their consoles.

Keep in mind that there has to be enough hard drive space available in order to store these games. One every important fact to remember is to never sell these game copies for profit. Otherwise one runs the risk of incurring legal and criminal penalties.
