What is a good two-player and/or co-op xBox 360 game for an older couple?

My girlfriend and I beat all the Halo's in the trilogy, but lately we can't find a game that we both agree on. I love Gears of War, she is freaked out by it. I like some sports games, but unless it is hockey, she won't play it cuz I seem to win a lot and it gets too competitive.

We both grew up in the 80s (during the days of Super Mario Bros., Double Dragon, Contra, etc.) and we are looking for a good 2 player game (along those lines) for my xBox 360 that my girlfriend and I can play together. All the previous games are Nintendo, lol.

It does not have to be co-op, but any games that are co-op are surely welcome as well. We are in our late 20s, so nothing too childish I guess.
