Can you use xbox 360 rock band 1 band equipment with guitar hero world tour xbox 360?

I was thinking of getting Guitar Hero:World Tour for the Xbox 360, but I already have Rock Band (The first one). The equipment takes up a lot of space so i was wondering if the two were able to share the instruments.

Older Guitar Hero guitar controllers still work with the game.[7] Activision stated during their press conference held alongside E3 2008 that for Xbox 360 users, the existing Rock Band instrument controllers as well as other third party controllers also work in Guitar Hero World Tour;[28] Rock Band instruments for the PlayStation 3 are not guaranteed to work in World Tour, though Sony is attempting to help make these units compatible.[29]

Console makers have helped to make sure that instrument compatibility between upcoming games is present. Both Sony[29] and Microsoft[30] have announced that instruments for World Tour, Rock Band 2, and Konami's Rock Revolution will work between all three games on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

According to Activision/Red Octane Support, the Wii version of the game only supports guitar controllers from previous Guitar Hero games, and "no compatibility with any other peripherals."[31]

World Tour adjusts the tracks in the game to account for the instrument controller being used. For example, sections of the lead guitar track that are designed to be played on the new controller's touchpad can be played by tapping the frets on older controllers without strumming.[7] When using Rock Band's drum controller, which has one less percussion pad than the World Tour unit and lacks velocity sensitivity, two of the lanes on the "World Tour" drum board merge, reducing the note track to four drum pads and bass pedal, and no armored notes are presented.[26]"
