Is it safe to give my friend my Xbox serial number?

He wants my serial number so he can get the wire to transfer all of his saved data to a bigger hard drive. You get the cord by upgrading your pro Xbox to an elite and sending them the serial # I believe, but he's just buying the hard drive (can't afford elite or both cord and 120 gig hard drive). I want to know if there will be any ramifications for me giving him my serial number to give to Microsoft.

if he's giving it to microsoft then tell him to use your name and everything to make them think it's you. So you can still use that Serial number if anything breaks on yours so it won't be registered in his name. (just be sure that he's trustworty) and i can't think of anyways he could harm you with knowing your serial number.
